DRYERS

After the logs that arrive in our plants have been cut into boards or beams, all of which depending on the needs and the order, the boards are sent for drying in order to enable further processing of elements. This is a very important process in the wood industry which implies reduction of moisture to a certain percentage that is suitable for further processing. Furthermore, drying helps us make the wood more stable, its structure stronger, the wood is more flexible, of change colour and as we have already stated, its processing in further production is easier.

We send the sawn boards for natural drying after which they are sent for artificial drying by way of which we can achieve the desired moisture with great precision. Before the elements are placed in dryers, our plant includes steam pits where the elements are placed to ensure that the colour of the wood gets uniform and at the same time a certain protection of wood that, under high temperature and great water vapour, frees itself from everything superfluous that could later result in wood decay or degradation. We have classic, condensation and vacuum dryers.

The classic dryers have the largest capacity and imply creating of an air current using huge ventilators, where the measuring of wood moisture content determines the duration of time spent in the dryers. The temperature, of course, has influence onto this process; then, also, the season has influence onto the duration of drying process.

The condensation dryers have huge condensers that turn the water vapour released from the wood due to the increased temperature in the dryer into water that is taken away from the dryer.

What is achieved in the vacuum dryer is that the entire dryer is hermetically closed, vacuum is created that extracts the water under a low temperature and takes it out of the dryer. Generally speaking, whatever method is applied, the essence remains the same and that is to achieve a certain percentage of moisture for the final processing of elements. The process is time-demanding and depends on a number of factors.
